Sergeant David Drummond 14123, 7th Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers
David Drummond was born in St Martins on 18th August 1883 to David and Eliza Drummond. He was part of a large family, having 9 siblings. Their father, David, was a tailor and clothier and they lived above the shop. By 1901 David was no longer living at home; he had finished his education at Perth Academy and was studying in London to join the Civil Service. At the time of the outbreak of WW1 David had been in Dublin for 8 years, and he enlisted into the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Sergeant David Drummond was killed in action on 23rd September 1916, on the Struma Plains in Macedonia during the British offensives in Bala and Zir district. He was 33 years old. He was awarded the Victory and British War medals.

Thank you for this information I have tried to find any info on this great uncle for some time.
I have a letter from him to my grand mother a few months before he was killed 1916
My mother was Eliza Milne and my grandmother Eliza Drummond.

glad to be of help. David will be featured in a book we are writing to be published early next year and on a memorial plaque in Scone later in the year. the precise position is still being decided but most likely in Scone park
