Private George Robertson 13565, 9th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters
George Robertson was born on 17th June 1890. He was the son of Donald and Susan Robertson, 9 Watt St. Forfar. His father was a Mason. In civilian life George was a Forester, and worked for a time on Scone Estate. While in Scone he resided with his aunt, Mrs Bremner, at Lady Mansfield Cottage. George joined the army on 12th August 1914 and served in three different fronts. Private George Robertson was reported “Missing in the Field” on the 4th October 1917, during the Battle of Polechappelle. He was 27 years old. He was awarded the Star, Victory and British War medals.
