Lance Corporal William Ruddiman 16593, 7th Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers
William Ruddiman was born on 8th July 1891 in Leslie, Fife. He was the second of five children born to Walter and Jane Ruddiman. The family lived on the Rothes Estate. William eventually worked on the Scone Estate. He enlisted into the King’s Own Scottish Borderers early in the war and was mobilised to France. Lance Corporal William Ruddiman was killed on 25th September 1915, the first day of the Battle of Loos. He was 25 years old. William was awarded the Star, Victory and British War medals.
